When you come across someone who knows your mother, do they constantly question you about her? Or praise of you because of her?
Not really, they normally just say "Oh, that's great!" and then that's it. I'm really proud of my mom's accomplishments
By now, we're sure all the high school students of America have seen your mother's Romeo and Juliet movie.have you seen it? What did you think?
Of course. I've seen it many times, and I think it's brilliant. It's a really beautiful film and story. Not only my mom's performance but Zeffirelli's direction as well.
Well, you're now at huge moment in your life.how has your life changed since being on, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager?"
I get recognized more and I'm able to shop a little more than I used to! Those are the only apparent changes. It hasn't changed any of my views on things or my attitude. I'm just really so grateful for everything.
Do you wish for anything to differ right now?
No, it is all pretty nice as it is and I'm just enjoying every moment! When and where did you receive the call informing you of the role you booked? I was at a hotel in Century City. My parents and I were there for an event my mom was involved with, and it was about an hour after I had tested. We were packing before the event started and we got the call. It was incredible!
About how many days does it take for one episode to be filmed? A whole season?
I think it takes about a week to a week and a half. I don't know for sure though, because our schedule is always changing, so it's hard to keep track!
Your character is a 13 year old, going on 14.has it been difficult for you to play someone younger than you are?
Sometimes, but Ashley is written very mature for her age so it's not too difficult for me to connect with her still.
Now, may you share to us how your character progresses throughout season 2?
I think that she has matured a great amount. I guess she becomes more comfortable with herself, and at ease with everything that's going on. But, staying true to her personality, she will always have that kind of fire and spunk in her.
On an average day on set, how was the environment? It's always a very comfortable, and comforting, environment. It really is a great group of people and I just feel so fortunate to get to work with them. What did you do during break?
Not too much, really. I cooked a lot. And I caught up on sleep. I'm not really a vacation kind of person. It's nice for the first couple days, and then I get very antsy.
We always want to know about the food! Your favorite food on set is?
Cheese! All cheeses! Some of the crew, when they see the cheese plate, they say, "It's a good day for India!" It has to be one of my favorite foods Who did you mostly hang out with during the time you were filming? Mark (Derwin). He plays my dad, George. He's just such a great person.
Is there anything interesting about a cast member others may not know of?
Hmm, good question. I know that Kenny (Ben) writes. Also Daren is really a good baseball player. You might remember the episode when he and Grace were at the batting cage. We had a still photographer IN the cage while Daren was batting and Daren hit him with a batted ball! I think the guy's camera got hit so he got out before he got hit again! Dangerous Daren!
We want to get to know you, Ashley!
What is your current major obsession?
Work and more work! I really love what I'm doing. Also, I love watching movies, I've seen some very good ones lately!
Who would you love to work with?
There are so many people I'd love to work with! But I'll just name a few. I would like to work with my mom. That would be very interesting. I'd also like to work with Meryl Streep, Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Javier Bardem and there's an English actor, who I think is very very talented, named Thomas Sangster. As for directors, I think it would be incredible to work with Steven Spielberg. Also, I would love to work with Tony Scott, Ridley Scott, Nancy Meyers, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and of course, Quentin Tarantino. To just name a few!
If you could be in any movie, of the past or present, of which would you be in? And what character?
There are so many movies that I would love to have been a part of. I can't even choose one! Maybe Gone with the Wind. Scarlett of course.
Are there any shows you always watch every week?
I love "True Blood" and "Weeds." "Mad Men" is great to. Please name 5 things you can not live without.
Being able to watch movies, so I guess my television. My Ipod as I love my music. My bags. I love all my different bags.good food, of course, and my little Chinese slippers which I seem to wear even in the rain and my great job on "Secret Life"!! So I guess there are 6 things I can't live without! I think that's it, I really just try to be thankful for everything I have.
You are probably a busy person, are you attending a public school? Or being home schooled?
I'm home-schooled. But I'm graduating early this year, so I can focus on work full time. Are there any old friends you have that try and reconnect with you because of the fact that you are now famous? How does that feel? No, not really. I've always just had a few close friends, so, no, that hasn't been a problem. I think you're lucky if you have even just a couple of real friends in life who stick by you no matter what and I'm very thankful for mine!
Do you have any advice, either regarding to life or the show, for your fans?
Well, my advice to young girls would be, try to not be judgmental of yourselves. I say that because I know it's very difficult growing up, but it's much nicer if you can learn to be comfortable with yourself and treat yourself kind.
