Lea Howard: Small and Mighty Butt-Kicker
Q. First off, your nickname is Hazard. Why is that?Hahaha well when I was a little younger I was like super clumsy so with my martial arts I would do like the most complicated trick and then walk of the matt and trip and fall. So I was kind of a hazard to people around me! I have gotten a lot better though. Q. You're were in the movie called G.I. Joe. What was your reaction when you heard a movie was going to be based off an action figure and the 80s show?
Wow yeah it was definitely a huge shock. I was so excited. I just ran around our house laughing cause it was so cool. Q. What made you want to be a part of the movie?
Oh man, everything about it - the action, the actors, and actresses. I mean everything about it was just awesome. I'm really happy that I was lucky enough to be a part of it. Q. Although other things are much more popular than playing with action figures, have you ever owned a G.I. Joe?
When I was 8 yrs old I used to play with snake eyes and storm shadow all the time, then when I was about 9, I told my mom that I was too old for them. Grr, now I wish I hadn’t gotten rid of them. It's kind of weird how I used to play with a character that I was in the movie! In a good way. Q. So you star as "Young Snake Eyes," may you tell us about your character and what he does in the film?
Well young Snake Eyes starts out as an orphan in the movie and one night he finds a temple. Since he is an orphan, he doesn’t have any food and so he is eating everything in the kitchen; when young Storm Shadow comes in and in so many ways, tries to kill him. Basically it sets up the history between the two ninjas. And besides, the rest of the scenes are classified you have to watch the movie (laughs). Q. Did you use any of your martial art skills in the movie?
Oh my goodness, yes! It was almost all martial arts. They hired two stunt doubles for Brandon and I, but they didn’t use them because Brandon and I did everything just how they wanted it. Q. There's a ton of special effects in the movie, were you amazed about how things worked from films you've seen before? What are some things we may not know about?
Absolutely. It was amazing because the actors would act in front of a green screen and when I watched them in the movie at that exact same scene there is like an explosion behind them its truly amazing how film-making has evolved. Q. You also star along some big name actors, including one of my personal favorites, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Channing Tatum, and even Sienna Miller! Have you seen any of your cast members' work before?
Oh yea they are really great actors (and actresses) it really inspired me. They were really fun to work with also.
Q. What did you learn about your cast members that you never knew before? That they are all normal people, no egos or anything like that. They are so much fun to be around. Q. Do you have a memorable moment while filming G.I. Joe?
Oh yea everyone on set was laughing about this. Well I would do like a super complicated trick and do the rest of the fight scene. But in the fight I had to spit out a bun and hit the other kid in the face and I could not spit the bun to save my life. It was funny and frustrating (laughs). Q. Why should people go see your new film?
Because it is action packed if you love action (like me) you will love it (like me). Its got everything-- guns, explosions, hot girls, airplanes, everything! Q. What has been the wildest thing you've done?
Making movies of course. That’s beyond my wildest dreams! Q. Who would you like to work with in the future?
Jack Nicholson. I have wanted to work with him since I was little……er. He can do it all-- comedy, drama..You name it, he can do it. Q. What is the one habit you have that may annoy your parents easily?
My mom hates it when I bite my nails I have a terrible habit of that. I’m trying to figure out a way to stop. Q. A film you can watch over and over is...
Definitely Step Up 2. I don’t know why but I just really like that movie. I have liked it for awhile now. Q. Are there any films you're anticipating to see this year?
Not so much this year. This year hasn’t been a great year for the movie biz. Other than G.I JOE and Shorts. Howard will be seen in a movie called, "Logan," who he plays the title character. Leo's External Links
