Taylor Spreitler
You're on the show Days of Our LIves, what is that like to come on to the set?
I love going to set! I get there usually early in the morning, drop my stuff off in my dressing room and head to hair and make-up, and to get coffee!! Then if there is a wardrobe change for that day I go to the wardrobe dept. to get fitted. After that there is blocking, rehearsing and filming scenes. In between scenes I am doing school work.
Is it normal for you?
After a week or two of just getting into the routine, it feels normal now.
On the show what character do you play?
I play Mia, a young teenage girl who gave up her baby to Nicole.
What type of take does your character give to the show?
Mia is kind of mysterious, no one knows where she came from or who she might be related to. No one even knows her last name!
The show has been going on since the 60's! Are you overwhelmed with the amount of fame the show has received?
I feel very honored to be part of such a popular and beloved show!
You've been on another TV set before, how is this soap opera different to others?
Soap Operas are different because everything moves so quickly. Shows usually film an episode a week and we film an episode a day!
Is the vibe completely different?
The vibe is somewhat different since it moves so fast. There isn't a lot of time for re-takes so you have to be prepared, have all your lines and blocking down and try not to mess up!
Who do you especially enjoy working with on the show?
Most of my scenes have been with Nicole (Ari Zucker) and she is just awesome! I've also had scenes with Dr. Baker (John Callahan) who is a very funny guy. Keeping a straight face in scenes with him is hard sometimes!
It's been stated that you memorize lines quickly, how do you practice?
I just read over the scenes a few times and get someone like my mom or best friend to run lines with me.
What has always been the advice you give to your friends? What was it based on?
I like the saying regarding gossip-"Believe nothing that your hear, and only half of what you see."
What advice or tips would you give to aspiring actors?
Take lots of classes, get as much training as possible. Participating in school plays or local theatre groups is good.
Do you prefer home school or a public school?
I started my home school program beginning in second grade so I don't remember much about being in public school! Home school has been great because of the flexible hours.
Starring in a Broadway musical or a movie?
I would have to say a movie, although I love Broadway!
Working with Tina Fey or Sarah Palin?
I would love to work with Tina Fey! She is one of my favorite actresses. I admire Sarah Palin for all she has accomplished but I don't think I could add much to her workday!
Acting or singing?
I have a greater passion for acting. I feel more confident acting.
Staying home for vacation, or go abroad?
Abroad, I have always wanted to visit Paris!
Reading or watching television?
I enjoy reading scripts, I don't watch a lot of television except for Days of course!
We all know that America is in desperate need of shaping up, what is your personal take on this issue? What do you think need to change?
A friend of mine got me very interested in the green movement and the importance of being eco-friendly. I'm reading to learn more about it and what things I can do to make a difference, even if it is just a small part of the solution. Even simple things like taking a shorter shower, turning off my computer when I'm not using it, and using a reusable water bottle can help!
